Here are a few tips that can help you manage your days better and keep you slightly more motivated. PLAN YOUR DAY TO AVOID PROCRASTINATION- No matter what job role you are in, it's always beneficial to time keep to ensure that you don't end up procrastinating and becoming distracted. Create a timetable or daily plan and stick to it! This will help you feel productive and keep on top of your work load, as well as keep you busy throughout the day. COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY- Whether it be a question about your job role or an issue within the workplace, it is always best to communicate with your colleagues about this in a professional manner. The more that you communicate positively, the easier your job will be. You don't want to dislike your job due to external factors than can be easily nipped in the bud. DRINK AND EAT WELL EVERY DAY- As cliche as it sounds, staying hydrated and having a healthy balanced breakfast and lunch whilst working plays a massive part in your day. To require positive energy, you need to be treating yourself to positive meals. You will feel more awake and refreshed if you stick to an eating plan. GET ENOUGH SLEEP- Similar to drinking and eating well, your sleeping pattern affects how you perform in your job role. Try to ensure that you are getting around 8 hours of sleep a night. Your brain always works better when you have a good nights sleep. It also allows your creativity and ideas to flow. THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX- If you feel like you are stuck in the same mundane routine at work, then try to change the way that you work by thinking of other ways that you can deliver and perform in your job. The harder that you work, the more recognition and appreciation you will receive. RESEARCH YOUR COMPANY/CAREER- Get to know your company inside out. Try learning how other departments operate as well. This will not only impress your boss, it will also allow you to have more knowledge and therefore work more effectively. 1 Stop Healthcare care about your safety and wellbeing and send our love and condolences to all of those who have been affected. Stay safe!
The 1 Stop Team Here at 1 Stop Healthcare, our staff work with love and care to support a variety of people with varying circumstances. We believe that the inspiration our staff get from their work allows them to appreciate how precious life, caring for others and valuing time is. With this in mind, we thought that it would be a nice idea to talk about appreciating time and how you can do this.
"Stop waiting for the 'right time'. There is no 'right time'. There is only one form of time and that is the present moment." EXPERIENCES- We think that we always have all of the time in the world, but this isn't always the case. If there is something that you want to experience or see, then make sure that you don't hold back. Make sure that you do the things that you have dreamed of doing. If you want to experience changing somebody's life for the better, then come on a journey with us and apply today. RELATIONSHIPS- We pride ourselves on creating great working relationships at 1 Stop Healthcare. One of our main values is to create a positive team and family culture, so we think that it's important to ensure that the relationships in your life are positive. A lot of people don't end up understanding the importance of particular relationships until it's too late. Don't allow yourself to have regrets in the future because you didn't reach out to somebody that you love in time. MONEY- Money is one of the main things that can can steal our appreciation of time. If you need to have a certain amount of money in a particular time frame, you end up focusing on that end goal instead of the time in between it. Instead of enjoying the time that you have, you use the frame as a pathway to the end goal. It then ends up repeating itself every month until you become stuck in this vicious circle of viewing time as a money making machine. Yes, we all have to pay money. It is part of the 'contract'. The actual 'job' is to make memories, share experiences, share knowledge and love. We believe that if you work for us, you will not only be making money but enjoying the process and your career too. THE PAST- We sometimes tend to teach ourselves that we were happier in the past. This is false. We just forgot to appreciate the past as it was happening to us. Just like we will probably forget to appreciate our present moment now because we're obsessing over what we didn't appreciate back then. Appreciate your present moments and you will not ache for the past so badly. We feel that if you work for us, you will enjoy every second. We're all guilty of allowing the pressures of life to overpower us because obstacles undoubtedly do get in the way. But It's time to cherish time and the special bond that we have with it. Don't allow yourself to take it for granted. Although the journey of this process may be tough, you are not alone in having this condition as part of your life. It’s important to acknowledge the journey of dementia and how it affects you individually and how you can use it as a positive.
Here at 1 Stop, we are supporting Dementia Awareness Week and think that it’s important that you speak about how it affects you and your family and friends too. Your emotions and feelings are important and together we can make a difference. We questioned some people that was affected by a loved one having dementia and have used their feedback throughout as quotes. HOW TO CHANGE THE WAY THAT YOU FEEL ABOUT DEMENTIA Firstly, it’s important to not give up hope. There is still a search for a cure and with your help, donations and voice, differences can continue to be made. SADNESS- If somebody close to you has been diagnosed with dementia, it can make you feel extremely sad and like you’ve lost the person that they once were. It can be upsetting to see your loved ones when they have moments of distress and it’s also difficult to know that they might not remember who you are. However, it’s important to remember that your experience is completely different to theirs. They still love you just the same, it just may not be shown in the same way because they are more forgetful. You should take a positive from the fact that they don’t remember. “The positive that I can take out of this, is that my nan has forgotten the life she had before. She forgets that she used to be able to walk, shop, clean, play cards, cook. She seems happy within herself and has the most wicked sense of humour. It’s like she is an 18 year old woman. She brightens my day with her joke and the stories that she makes up.” ANGER- “It made me angry. It made me angry that there was nothing I could do for him.” Anger is a poisonous emotion and takes up so much of your time. It’s natural and understandable to feel this way. However, you cannot control dementia. You might want to make things better for your loved ones, but sometimes you have to accept that all you can do is offer love and support. Put all of your energy into supporting your loved one as best as you can. Remember all of the good memories and hold them close to your heart. Cherish them. FEAR- “It made me feel afraid. It’s scary because the person you love has changed” It can be scary and daunting, there is no questioning that. However, remember that your loved one doesn’t understand what is happening. “My father seems very calm and content. I think this is due to all the medication he’s on.” The situation can be intimidating but ensure that you speak about how it affects you regularly. This can help accept the situation and process your thoughts a little bit easier. GET ACTIVE- A lot of people don’t know much about dementia until somebody that they know is diagnosed. “I didn't even know there was a difference between Alzheimer's and dementia. I didn't know there were multiple kinds of dementia either” “I didn’t know anything about dementia until after my nan was diagnosed, which is one of the reasons I ended up going into healthcare myself” So, get your voice heard and start making a difference. The more people that get involved, the quicker a cure can be found. It can also be very rewarding and therapeutic to know that you are actively involved in trying to make a difference for your loved one and for the millions of others that are affected! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS? DONATE- You can donate to The Alzheimer’s Society by calling us at 1 Stop Healthcare: 01206913154 and help find a cure quicker! You can also donate via the direct website. FIND A CHARITY EVENT- There are so many events that you can get involved with for Dementia awareness week! There are memory walk’s throughout the country which unites all people together to stand up against dementia. Look here for more information: https://www.memorywalk.org.uk/ You can also get involved with other events including: running, cycling, trekking, swimming, sky diving, abseiling and ziplining! There is literally something for everybody! ORGANISE A CHARITY EVENT- You and your family/friends could get together and think of ideas to fundraise together. It can be anything from a charity leg wax, a sponsored silence to a massive ball or disco! The journey of dementia is difficult for everybody involved but keep talking, stand united and don't give up the fight to find a cure. Even if it is just a hobby. Otherwise, what's the point? 3.DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK- You will feel so much better when you stop caring about what other people think of you. Give it a go. 5.MAKE MEMORIES AND TAKE PICTURES- Enjoy every day. 6.SPEND TIME OUTSIDE- Nothing beats fresh air. Go outside and take in a big deep breath. Look at the sky. Go for a walk. Sit near water or under a tree. Nature is a powerful and beautiful thing. 7.READ A GOOD BOOK- Find a book that takes you to a different world. Find something that you want to read again and again. Let yourself live inside of the pages and enjoy every second of it. 8.WORK HARD AND FOCUS- Always give yourself a goal to work towards to keep you motivated. 1 Stop Healthcare offers our employees plenty of training opportunities and we always want to help our staff become better workers and people. 9.EAT WELL- It will make you feel good! 10.NO PHONE- Take a leaf out of our candidates book! It's refreshing now and again! 11.LAUGH AT YOURSELF- Try not to take yourself too seriously. It can sometimes be difficult but learn to find the humour in things. It helps. You're only here after once after all. We love to laugh here at the office! 12.SPEND TIME WITH YOUR LOVED ONES 13. LEARN NEW THINGS- 1 Stop Healthcare gives our employees plenty of opportunities to be trained, including gaining their QCF Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. 14. LIGHT A FEW CANDLES- It's therapeutic! 15. LISTEN TO LOTS OF MUSIC- Because, why not?! Mental Health Awareness Week is all about showing your support. If you love to help others or would love to work with the elderly and/or people with learning disabilities then we would love to hear from you! The 1 Stop Healthcare Team. Summer is slowly coming… which means the sun – yay! However, if your summer is looking pretty dull, take a look at this list to discover a few things to brighten up the hottest months of the year!
Date originally posted: April, 27, 2017 First day I walk into the office and I’m nervous. I remember my interview clearly, walking into the purple office and having a chat about the opportunity available to me! I get butterflies, but as I walk in I start to feel right at home, as I am greeted with a huge hug from my manager. ‘We’ve got lots of things to do!’ Since then, my experience at 1 Stop Healthcare has been a whirlwind of excitement, happiness and learning. One thing I know about 1 Stop Healthcare is that they really care about their staff, and I was given a multitude of training opportunities that have led to recognised qualifications, as well as support, encouragement and advice from the rest of the team. Another great part of working for the company is the sense of community that you feel. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and inclusive, and will always greet you with a smile on their face. There’s always tea and coffees being made (and quite often there’s a few cakes too!). I’ve always been impressed with the amount of charity work that the company does, including raising £700 for Macmillan, alongside many other charity events held at head office! These are just a few examples of the amazing experiences I’ve had at 1 Stop Healthcare. I love working here, and I know you will too!

We know that it is easy to say ‘yes we’ll sort that for you’, or ‘sorry that this has happened, and it won’t happen again’. However, at 1 Stop Healthcare, we make sure that our actions speak louder than our words. That is why we have listed below just some of the things that we are doing to make sure that you know that we are listening and we always appreciate feedback! Our clients said: ‘We would like certain members of your staff to have a better understanding of English.” How we’ve solved this: We have implemented an ESOL course that is being held at head office for all non-English speakers. This 12 week course will allow our staff to gain a professional grasp of the English language, relating the language that they learn directly to the care industry. We have had excellent feedback from this course so far. Our clients said: ‘We are not sure about what training you are giving the staff, can we have this confirmed?’ Our answer: All new starters are placed on a 12 week Care Certificate programme, as well as completing the 1 Stop Training Academy, which includes a half day face to face training session with our qualified trainer, Oana. This training session includes manual handling, personal care and good practices. We have had excellent feedback from our face to face sessions, with 100% of participants in the last 3 months rating the training as ‘good’ or above. We also provide QCF levels 2 + 3 in social care to those that wish to undertake this. Our clients said: ‘We would like more continuity with the care staff provided to our service’ How we’ve solved this: We have introduced a candidate snapshot with staff of which services their key skills are best suited to, and limiting them to 3 to 4 care services to ensure a continuity of staff. We have also informed our clients that they are able to pre book certain staff that they feel fit in well with the service. They can confirm this with the candidate whilst at work and then inform the office of the shifts that they have picked up. The 1 Stop Healthcare Team Date originally posted: March, 29, 2017
